Join us June 4 to 7, 2026, for an ALL-INCLUSIVE writerly long weekend in Waterford, Maine.

Our Accommodations: Due to high demand, we are thrilled to offer two beautiful lodging options for this retreat. Both include private accommodations and full access to all retreat programming, sessions, and amenities.

  • The Bear Mountain Inn & Barn: The “hub” of our retreat. We have reserved the entire Inn for our guests. (bearmtninn.com)

  • The Waterford Inne: Located just a few miles away, this 1826 homestead is nestled on 17 acres of woods and gardens. It’s the perfect escape for those wanting a bit of extra quiet between sessions. (thewaterfordinne.com)

Planned activities include:

  • Daily Writing Classes and private One-on-One Coaching Sessions (all levels) with Darcey Gohring.

  • Craft Conversations and Writing Workshops with special guest authors, including bestsellers Joanna Rakoffand Andre Dubus III.

  • Optional morning Yoga Class (all levels).

  • Special Storytelling Salon.

Dining & Amenities: Every guest will have private accommodations. Your stay is all-inclusive, featuring breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

  • At Bear Mountain: Meals are prepared by executive chef and innkeeper Nicholas Orgo.

  • At The Waterford Inne: Guests will enjoy a farm-to-table breakfast featuring seasonal produce, organic eggs, and homemade sourdough. (Lunch and dinner are served with the full group at Bear Mountain Inn).

(BYOB. Alcohol not included.)

There will be ample time to utilize the properties’ amenities, which include kayaking, canoeing, hiking, hot tubbing, and fire pitting, bird-watching, and star-gazing. There is also the opportunity to explore local antique shops, art galleries, and shops off-site.
